Open Educational Resources have much in common with the Open Source movement in software development. Open Source software resulted in higher quality software, which is more secure, performs better, it can be customized to a higher degree than commercial software. Many parallels exist between Open Educational Resources and Open Source. Higher quality of education may be the result of OER based on success of Open Source
